Step Two: Setting and population

Key questions to address:

  • What is the setting?
  • Who is being studied?

Hint: The answer isn't always in the abstract or the introduction, have a look in the methods section too.

As this is a systematic review, there are numerous populations and settings. However, most of the 27 studies included are from the US, with others from Canada, UK and Italy. (Why no Australian?)
And most of the studies' participants are "upper-year medical students and residents" although undergraduates in other disciplines were studied in some, including nursing and dentistry.
